How GNM-IX Works

GNM-IX is a unified Internet Exchange platform deployed across multiple exchange locations and tightly integrated with GNM’s backbone.

Participants connect through a single IX port and gain access to a distributed peering ecosystem within a controlled, consistent operational environment.

Access & Port Activation

Networks connect via local cross-connects at exchange locations or through remote access delivered over GNM’s backbone infrastructure. Once connected, an IX port is provisioned within the platform’s unified switching environment.

Unified Layer-2 Environment

All exchange nodes operate within a single controlled logical Layer-2 domain, ensuring consistent service behavior, standardized provisioning, and operational predictability across all exchange locations.

Peering Configuration

Participants may establish peering through Route Servers or bilateral sessions. This flexible model enables scalable interconnection while preserving full routing policy control.

Scalable Interconnection Model

The platform supports seamless scaling of peering relationships and geographic reach without requiring core routing redesign or additional operational overhead.

Traffic Exchange

Traffic exchange occurs across a high-capacity switching fabric spanning multiple exchange locations, delivering predictable latency, high throughput, redundant traffic paths and no single-site bottlenecks.

Technical Highlights

Carrier-grade foundations for a distributed Internet Exchange.

GNM-IX operates on a high-capacity switching platform engineered for deterministic Layer-2 traffic exchange across a unified peering environment. The exchange fabric supports large-scale MAC tables, high port density and predictable forwarding performance under peak load. Participants may establish peering via integrated Route Servers or direct bilateral BGP sessions.

Standardized VLAN provisioning, jumbo frames and advanced Layer-2 features enable efficient transport of high-volume traffic workloads.

GNM-IX provides scalable 10GE, 100GE and 400GE port configurations. Higher-capacity and breakout configurations may be supported based on deployment scenarios. LAG / LACP, jumbo frames and flexible capacity upgrades allow networks to scale bandwidth without service disruption or architectural redesign.

GNM-IX is deployed as a unified Internet Exchange fabric spanning multiple exchange locations and integrated with GNM’s backbone infrastructure. All exchange nodes operate within a single controlled Layer-2 domain, enabling a distributed peering ecosystem through a consistent operational framework.

Participants may peer via Route Servers for rapid multilateral interconnection or establish bilateral BGP sessions to maintain granular routing policies. BGP communities and traffic engineering controls help manage inbound and outbound traffic flows while preserving routing autonomy.

Resilience is embedded at every layer of the platform architecture. Redundant switching infrastructure, diverse inter-site connectivity and no single points of failure support service continuity. 24/7 network supervision enables rapid incident detection and controlled maintenance.
